Your experience begins with a private transfer from your hotel in Cusco at the time arranged with your guide. From there, we will travel to Km 82 (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), the starting point of our Inca Trail adventure.
After passing through the entrance checkpoint and presenting the required original documents, we will begin our trek along ancient Inca pathways beside the Urubamba River. Along the way, we will encounter beautiful Andean landscapes and explore remarkable archaeological sites, including Willkaraykay and Patallacta, one of the first major Inca complexes encountered along the trail.
We will continue through the mountains and surrounding Andean scenery until reaching Huayllabamba (3,100 m / 10,170 ft), where our first campsite will be located. Here, you will have time to rest and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Andes before the next stage of the journey.
After an early breakfast, we will continue our ascent through the mountains. This is one of the most challenging stages of the Inca Trail, but also one of the most rewarding.
The trail leads us to Warmiwañuska, known as Dead Woman’s Pass (4,250 m / 13,828 ft), the highest point of the Inca Trail. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding Andean peaks and valleys.
We will then begin our descent toward the Pacaymayu Valley (3,600 m / 11,811 ft), where our second campsite awaits. The afternoon will be dedicated to rest and recovery, surrounded by the impressive scenery of the Andes.
Today brings one of the longest and most captivating stages of the Inca Trail. The scenery will transform throughout the day as we move through different ecological zones, from the high Andes into lush cloud forests.
Along the way, we will explore remarkable archaeological sites such as Runkurakay (3,760 m / 12,335 ft), an ancient Inca structure with distinctive architecture. We will continue toward another mountain pass before descending to Sayacmarca (3,625 m / 11,893 ft), dramatically positioned among the surrounding mountains.
Our journey continues to Phuyupatamarca (3,600 m / 11,811 ft), often referred to as the “City in the Clouds.” Here, we will pause to appreciate the extraordinary landscape and capture memorable photographs.
We will then descend through an impressive series of original Inca stone steps toward Wiñaywayna, one of the most remarkable archaeological complexes along the entire trail and the location of our final campsite. After a rewarding day of trekking, we will have the evening to rest, just a few hours away from Machu Picchu.
Before sunrise, we will enjoy breakfast and prepare for the final stage of this extraordinary journey.
After passing through the Wiñaywayna checkpoint, we will continue along the ancient trail toward Inti Punku, the Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,923 ft). From this iconic viewpoint, we will enjoy our first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu—a truly memorable moment and the culmination of the Inca Trail experience.
We will then descend toward the entrance of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary. After leaving our backpacks in the designated area, we will begin a private guided tour of approximately two hours, exploring the principal temples, plazas, and ceremonial spaces of this remarkable Inca citadel. There will also be time to appreciate the scenery and capture photographs of this extraordinary site.
After the visit, we will take the bus down to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), where you will have free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.
Upon arrival, our private transportation will be waiting to continue the journey to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel, bringing this remarkable Andean adventure to a memorable close.
